Today on 4th Feb World celebrating World Cancer day and we are in 24th year since it stared on 4th Feb 2000 by ” Union for International cancer control – UICC”
Friends we are discussing the most dangerious and fearsome topic “Cancer” which world facing now a days despite the era of most advancement and technological support of 21st century.
Cancer and World :
According to world cancer Research Fund International there were an estimated 18.1 million cancer cases around the world in 2020. Of these, 9.3 million Cases were in men and 8.8 million in women. the most common Cancer Globally are as
According to assumptions determined from above data from every 9 men 1 suffer from cancer and from every 12 women 1 suffer from this deadly monster.
Theme of World Cancer Day :
Between 2022 and 2024 focus of the World Cancer Day is to help ” Close the Care Gap ” and we are in the last year of this campaign. The main focus of this theme is to create awareness and provide better health care for the betterment of cancer sufferer and lead the world to the cancer free world.
This year the theme is ” Together we challange those in power” where global leader should come forward to invest and streanthen health care in economically and technically weak nations to provide them better health care on affordable range so that they can survive.
Cancer and India :
In India Govt Started Awareness programme way back in 1981 and Established ” Population Based Cancer Registries – PBCR. From then India Recorded all data and trying to build an ecosystem to fight against Cancer. Many Institution and Cancer hospitals were established time to time but still the figures of new patients registration and mortality from them scared us.
In just 3 Years from 2018 to 2020 India registered 40 lakh new registration from which 22.54 people couldn’t survive.
In India Region wise South Region is most affaced by this deadly monster. New Registration of Cancer Patient as well as mortality is highest in this region.
Geographically Cancer Spread in india as follow :
With kerla leading, Mizoram , and Hariyana are also suffering from deadly cancer. In 2022 india registered 1413316 new cancer patient registration and out of which 916827 could not survive and lead to death.
Recently in her Budget Speech Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman also shown her concern and worry about the spread of cancer in India and announced HPV vaccination programme for girl child of 9-14 years.
in her Speech She Said ” Our Govt will encourage vaccination for girls in the age group of 9-14 years for the prevention of Cervical Cancer.”
Cancer and Super Power USA :
USA registered 1.8 million new cancer patient registration and 609820 deaths in 2022 which shows Super Power is also not exception and this worries the world evern more.
According to Study 40% of Cancer cases can be avoided with Awareness and better knowledge about the disease.
Cancer and Poor Countries like Africa:
Countries like Africa and other countries in the region the situation is more disheatening, In 2020 aprox 1.1M new Cancer Cases occured on the continent with around 7 lakh deaths.
If urgent measures are not taken Cancer Mortility in the region is projected to reach about one Million death per year by 2030.
Survival rates in African region is 12% much lower than the average of over 80% in high income countries.
Main Reasons of Cancer :
Although there is no Certain Reasons that couses cancer but some Reasons that rises the risk of Cancer :
1. Smoking is the main region that increase the risk of cancer. Use of tobacco is surely increases the risk of cancer.
2. Excess use of Alcohol also rise the risk of cancer.
3. Overweight and Obesity also increases the risk of cancer.
4. Excessive use of pesticides in edable crops also main reason behind the risk of cancer.
5. In Countries like India polution is also the main factor that causes the cancer.

In the Era of 21st Century where advancement and technology is at the top and world trying to reach and find lives in other plannet there is one big challange in front of World is one disease called Cancer where world faild to found proper treatment. Where Mortality is continously increasing. We together can fight against the cancer by spreading knowledge and awareness regarding curable types of cancer.
World leaders should take responsibility and trying to invest in health care to develop affordable and effective healthcare so that each and every individual can be benifited that will provide World ” Right to Health”
